The poor old Vee Dub sat neglected for many years while I was blissfully car-less overseas for half a decade. When I returned, I got to work on it again, renewed the brake system, fibreglassed a hole that battery acid had rotted in the floorpan, installed new seat belts, repaired other damage, and re-registered it. The months of practical activity were a kind of mechanical therapy for me.
Karen experienced the mobile heirloom on a trip to Queenscliff. We had to wear earplugs down the Geelong Road because the cabin was so noisy at speed, and I use the word speed loosely. This picture was taken at Eastern Beach, looking across Corio Bay to the You Yangs ranges.
